5 Mouthwatering Nimko Flavors to Grab from Amu's Bakeshop

When it comes to desi snacks, Nimco beats all its competitors, no doubt. Whether you’re sipping tea and catching up with friends on a chilly winter night, or preparing for a party these crisp, salty, and protein-filled snacks are the perfect way to adorn your plates. This is where multiple Nimko flavors by Amu’s Bakeshop come in. These delicious Nimko flavors are a combination of traditional Nimko with the addition of our secret ingredients. Here, we’ll explore five of our best-selling Nimko varieties: Mix Nimko, Daal Channa, Bombay Peanuts, Meetha Chewra, and Dahi Boondi together. In this blog, we will learn how these tantalizing Nimko flavors are made, and what fabulous recipes they can be incorporated in, to provide the ultimate snacking experience.

1. Savor Mix Nimko – A Crunchy Fusion.

Mix Nimko is a blend of various savory ingredients - a remarkable invention that traces its origin in the Indian subcontinent. Formerly a nocturnal morsel (a nighttime snack) or a complement to one’s meal, Amu’s Bakeshop Nimko comes with a unique blend of ingredients in Mix Nimko. Fried lentils like daal channa and chickpeas mixed with roasted peanuts, and spices for the perfect mix of the crunchy and zesty are the predominant ingredients present.

Serving Suggestions:

Tea-Time Treat:

Want to know what mix Nimko tastes good with? Hot chai. Its crispiness will surprise your taste buds, and its spiciness blends well with the heat of the tea. Plus, topping it with mint chutney will double the flavor and texture. Mix Nimko can also be an ideal topping over dahi puri, chaat, or a simple cucumber salad for an extra crunch.

Snack Boxes:

Add the Mix Nimko to your snack basket during a long drive or a day out with your friends. Pair it with a few dried fruits and nuts for an energy-boosting munchie. Because of its contrasting texture, Nimko can also add value as a garnish on creamy yogurt products such as raita or Boondi chaat.

2. Daal Channa – Protein Filled Crispiness

Daal Channa is one of the customer favorites here at Amu’s Bakeshop. Lentils of the highest quality are carefully picked and prepared under a hygienic frying process. Then they are coated in a layer of seasoned secret spice blend including chili powder, cumin, and salt. The Daal Channa flavor is rich in protein and its crunchy texture makes it a perfect snacking option - both delicious and healthy.

Serving Suggestions:

As an on-the-go snack:

Daal Channa is a good pick if you want a quick fix for your cravings. It is light on the stomach but can fill one up, and the spices even make you want more. As a handy snacking option, you can keep a portable jar in your car, office desk, or kitchen to curb those spicy cravings and reduce your daily protein intake.

Garnish for Curries:

Why not give your gravies and curries an extra dimension of texture try garnishing with Daal Channa just before serving. It provides a great crunch factor and a new unique flavor to any dish, especially a creamy dal or a biryani.

Salad Crunch:

To incorporate a healthier diet with style, try adding one cup of Daal Channa to your salads. Cucumbers, tomatoes, and mint-accompanied salads are the best go-to, and adding Daal Channa will provide enhanced tastes and textures to your bland salad.

3. Bombay Peanuts – The Spicy Delight

Bombay Peanuts or Masala Peanuts are the Picante you have been craving, originating straight from Indian street food cuisines. These crunchy peanuts are seasoned with light spices to balance the spice and nuttiness of the peanuts, giving them a thin coating that is both tangy and mouthwatering.

Serving Suggestions:

Movie Night Snacks:

Bombay Peanuts are perfect for that movie night you have been planning or even to present at a high tea party. Their spicy and nutty flavor makes them an ideal combo when paired with soda or lemonade.

Garnish for Stir-Fries:

Sprinkle a handful of Bombay Peanuts on a stir fry to take your cooking experience to another level. It is complimented best with Asian cuisine, particularly those with soy or tamarind-based sauces.

Nimko Trail Mix:

For a more sophisticated snack, sprinkle Bombay Peanuts on roasted almonds, cashews, and dried cranberries. This dish will be highly appreciated at any event or informal gathering. When serving, add a few drops of fresh lemon juice to the peanuts to help counter the spiciness with some tanginess.

4. Meetha Chewra – A Combination of Sweet And Tangy

Meetha Chewra is a sweet and savory dish prepared from flattened rice (poha) with little spices and sweetened with jaggery or sugar. This snack brings back memories of traditional households where similar Nimko was prepared almost always on festive occasions like Diwali and Eid.

Serving Suggestions:

Breakfast Cereal:

Meetha Chewra on the other hand, can also be taken as a cereal to help start the day due to its light yet filling nature. Just add some warm milk to it and it will add a hint of sweetness that blends well with every mouthful.

Sweet-Savory Bites:

Enjoy Meetha Chewra with salted nuts or spicy Bombay Peanuts for a great sweet and spicy munching combination. This is perfect for when you have guests around or for those who want to munch on in the afternoon.

Chewra Parfait:

Meetha Chewra can be eaten with some toasted whole grains, nuts, and seeds or made into a sweet-salty parfait with Greek yogurt and fresh fruits.

Pro Tip: Slightly toast a spoonful of Meetha Chewra in a pan, with a little ghee to enhance the flavor of the dish.

5. Dahi Boondi – Ideal for cooling, yogurt-based spicy

Dahi Boondi is a hot-selling product at Amu’s Bakeshop, especially in the holy month of Ramadan. This Nimko comprises small gram flour bowls that are fried, forming a perfect crunchy texture.  Dahi Boondi is usually liked when soaked in spiced yogurt and chopped salad with spices, making it an ideal dish in hot summer months. It is frequently eaten with both Indian and Pakistani meals, and can also be eaten alongside spicy entrees or merely as a snack.

Serving Suggestions:

Boondi Raita:

Traditionally, Dahi Boondi has been served with raita. It’s best to boil the boondi in water for it to soften before adding it to yogurt, cumin powder, salt, and a pinch of black salt. This way it can make for a quick side dish to go with biryani or any spicy curry.

Chaat Ingredient:

Include Dahi Boondi in your next plate of chaat. It provides a smooth, squishy feel in the mouth to complement the sweet, sour, and hot chutneys, usually found in street shops.

Snack Platter:

Dahi Boondi can also be part of a larger assortment of mixed Nimko, fresh vegetables, and mint chutney. It provides a different texture, which is quite good in terms of balancing heat from other foods. For a great summer cooler mix, Dahi Boondi can be mixed in ice-cold yogurt, a pinch of salt, chaat masala, and cumin seeds. It makes it rather a tasteful and delicious beverage for drinking!
